Bonnie’s suggestion for this PAF was straightforward – create something with her free texture: ‘Rice Paper‘. The title immediately suggested something Oriental but also, I felt that in order for the highly-defined texture to be made best use of, it needed an image with a large, spatial background. Thus I tried out several possibilities before finding one that worked.
Japanese gardens frequently include Clematis and it is easy to see why, for when a trailing strand escapes the vine, it does so with all the wisp-like gracefulness of a Geisha girl.
Such modest beauty needs little adornment and so after some minor adjustments to the original image, a watercolor SPE effect was added. This created a paler, smoother edit over which the texture was layered, in a 75% hard light opacity. Boosting both lighting and colour in a final tweak, resulted in a pretty simple piece of photo art, which I am hanging in the PAF gallery

Like these pretty simple pictures, the watercolor effect is most beautiful.
