London Tree Week #2

monochrome of maples in bernard street Just opposite Russell Square tube station, a line of Acers separates passers by from the traffic…

… so how is it I’ve failed to remark on them before now? The Spring foliage glows red-purple, matching the oxblood tiles and Edwardian design of the station opposite, as well as the more recent addition of an adjacent Prets.
red maples Bernard streetMy guess is that these are Norway maples, Acer Platanoides, ?Crimson King, with a colour that evokes the celebratory spirit of London Tree Week (LTW) @Woodland Trust.
