Tuesday Triptych: Guildhall

guildhall triptych
Postcards of London: Guildhall

In the heart of the City, Guildhall stands as a 15th century edifice to the wealth and power of the first trade unions or guilds when the Lord Mayor of London was as influential as the king.

An adjacent building houses the City’s historic art collection which stands on the ruins of a Roman ampitheatre when this was Londinium – the original circular walls and the stone structures can be viewed in the basement. All this for free so it’s well worth a visit and warrants a ‘postcard’ of London presentation for this Tuesday Triptych.
