Goodbye August

1-handP1090895Au revoir, arriverderci and adiós August. No long goodbye but a wet handkerchief sob for unfulfilled forecasts and a damp dull tail-end to summer days.

“parts of the UK faced the wettest summer ever despite predictions for a dry, hot season…Britain now faces a cold and windy start to autumn with below-average temperatures and gales kicking off September”.

Here is a mop-up of warmer memories as reminder that there were sunny as well as soggy August days:-

  1. Never seen peony seeds before, so thanks for that little bit of education! August went with 30C but September arrived here with a lot of rain… Maybe the memories of the hot days will keep us a bit warmer as autumn sets in 🙂

  2. Nice photos, and they are all reminders of summer! I can relate.. I’m NOT ready for the cold, damp weather either. Sometimes I search all winter for different vacation spots (with good intentions) of going in late winter. Sometimes I do. However, the searching & telling myself I’m going to do this in March- even if I don’t end up going gets me though the cold months more. The visuals help a lot as you portrayed on your blog site!

    1. I plan to accept the knowledge that long-range weather forecasting is as good as looking into a crystal ball! Must learn to adapt to whatever the weather comes our way – it could be and is much worse elsewhere.
