Am never without them. Every year I grow Digitalis purpurea for the courtyard garden I tend – more woodland than city with a large Acer pseudoplatanus overlooking it and a peripatetic urban fox. The best ones are often the self-seeders in odd spots of their own choosing. One tip is to cut back the the tubular bell seedheads to encourage a second flowering and allow those stems to seed for collection or natural dispersal.
