I cannot photograph architecture without being aware of the enormity of mathematical calculations that underlie each structure, as here for example, at One Embankment Place. It is a conversion from Charing Cross station backside to commercial offices and venue – though it will take a more than its 20 years to shake off the gritty backstreet feel, so high contrast mono fitted it best in my view.

All variations on a theme of Geometry for the Weekly Photo Challenge and joining Debbie for her one word Sunday: Lines

What a spankingly condensed essay on structure made manifest and the design that informs it. Dramatic visuals and thought-provoking quotes.

thank you – love your way with words Tish

That works both ways 🙂

the enormity of mathematical calculations behind the scene, well said.

Great captures, Laura. Thank you for sharing the quotes. 🙂

am very keen on angles Amy and was not too bad at Geometry either – glad you appreciated the quotes too

It does take knowledge to appreciate.

Nice photos for the challenge and I also like the quote by Newton.
