This iris took me by surprise growing in shade, amongst hostas and ferns, as I’ve always associated Iridaceae with sunny spots. But Siberian irises are happy out of the bright light, where the blues show up beautifully against a sea of greenery. I was captivated enough to take this shot and do further research:-
Iris sibirica ‘Silver Edge’: rich blue standards finely edged white, and deeper blue falls with a dark violet tinge, edged with white, and yellowish white at the base
Popular with bumblebees too – surely one for the wishlist garden

and I may say innocence, with Nature herself.β

I adore seeing flowers in unexpected places….these irises are gorgeous and my hummers love them too!
this was a planting in Regent’s Park that caught my eye. The bumblebee and iris centre are remarkable similarly marked. I would love hummers!
Seeing this lovely photo reminds me that my blue irises didn’t come up at all last year, and this year I am not in the UK to see them, so I don’t know if they are back to normal or not. I hope last year was just a blip and they haven’t been lost forever.
can’t advise but you may need to divide them – but hard to do when not here!
I’ll have to wait until I go back and see what’s what – maybe division will be the answer. π
