I really dislike the way Christmas is hoisted into existence two months too early. For the sheer colourful show, a walk up Regent Street is a treat though – splendidly imaginative window displays, happy shoppers who have yet to count the cost and at least the angel street lights bear some relationship to the nativity.

And here am I amidst the razzmatazz, reflecting in monochrome as the Grunch that stole Crimsmammon. Still trying to get the hang of manual focus though the eye piece, with reading glasses on. I’m probably smiling though beneath the squint!
